The Museum runs on volunteer power, and we are always looking for new volunteers. Make friends in your community, meet visitors from around the world, learn amazing history, host fun and enriching events, or help research and care for historic artifacts!
Here are some of our typical volunteer roles, although there is almost nothing you can imagine that hasn’t been done by a volunteer:
Be the face and voice of the Museum. Talk to people from all over the world about the Museum and Silver City.
Museum Store Cashier
Become one of our most relied-upon volunteer staff, sell wonderful books and merchandise and meet people
Help out with engaging, high-quality programs and events for all ages, from craft projects to lectures series, small to large, at the Museum or out in the community.
Help change out exhibits, and prepare for them by doing research, writing, oral history transcription or carpentry and painting projects.
Work with our historic objects or photos, help maintain them and keep record organized. Requires attention to detail, computer literacy.
Help update and maintain our membership database.
A fun and essential job that takes you outdoors and into local businesses, with walkable routes of 20 to 30 spots, easily combined with shopping, visiting, or dog-walking. Each route used very 1 to 3 months.
