The Open Meetings Act is one of New Mexico’s 'good government' laws, and it deserves the full support of all New Mexicans.

The next regular municipal election will be held on March 6, 2018.
The Legislative Department consists of the elected members of the governing body of the Town of Silver City, which are the Mayor and four (4) Councilors, known as the Town Council. Terms of office are two (2) years. The Council, by majority vote, appoints the Town Manager. The powers and duties of the Mayor and Council are in accordance with the Charter of the Town of Silver City and the Laws and Statutes of the State of New Mexico, including the power to declare emergencies.
The March 2018 election will be for the seat of Mayor and for council representation for Districts 2 and 4. Learn more here
