Recycling Facts If you are a Silver City resident or business owner and your trash is collected by the town of Silver City, then you are eligible for curbside recycling services provided under contract with Southwest Solid Waste Authority. To get started, call SWSWA at 388-8051 to request a free bin. Recycling is picked up on your regular trash day by a special recycling truck. In case of problems with recycling pick-up, call 388-8051. If you have problems with your trash collection, call Public Works at 388-4640. Silver City residents and businesses recycled close to 2 million pounds of cardboard, paper, plastic, metal, and glass in fi scal year 2007, an increase of 23 percent over the previous year. With your help, we can do even better this year. Every pound of recyclable material we keep out of the landfi ll is money saved for our city and county and its taxpayers. |
| What You Can Recycle — and How to Do It Cans: Aluminum and other metal food and beverage cans; lids and labels OK. Please rinse. Cardboard: Corrugated only, please flatten. No cereal boxes or other chipboard. Glass: Food and beverage bottles, jars. Remove lids; rinse containers. Labels OK. Please put glass in plastic bag for safety.
Paper: Glossy Paper: Magazines, catalogs Newsprint: Newspapers, phone directories Office Paper: White paper including junk mail; no envelopes or colored paper; please place in plastic bag in bin.
Plastic: Recycle only #1 and #2 plastic bottles and jugs, including those for water and other beverages, detergent, bleach. Rinse containers if needed. Remove lids and discard them in the regular trash bin.
