About the Museum Board
The Town of Silver City's Museum Board serves as an advisory body to the Town Council for matters concerning the Museum. The Board devotes itself to the promotion, maintenance, and development of the Silver City Museum and in its behalf makes recommendations through the Town Manager.
Specifically, the Museum Board:
- Participates in strategic planning processes organized by the Museum Director;
- Participates, when called upon, in committees associated with collections and their management, fund raising, events, planning related to Museum facilities, and other committees as may be formed for the benefit of the Museum;
- May recommend to the Town Manager, with the advice and counsel of the Museum Director, such policies regarding the regulation and promotion of the Museum.
The Silver City Museum Board is composed of nine members, residents of Grant County and appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Town Council.
The Mayor shall designate and appoint one member of the Town Council as an ex officio member of the Museum Board. One of the nine positions on the Museum Board shall be reserved for the President (or President's designee) of the Silver City Museum Society, and shall be appointed annually. Terms of office for the members of the Museum Board shall be three years.
