About the P and Z
The Town of Silver City's Planning and Zoning Commission fills an important role in the Town's development and maintenance of fair, consistent and prudent land use policies.
The Town of Silver City Code Appendix C (Land Use and Zoning Code of 2010), Article 6, Sections 6.1.1 A) and 6.1.1 A)1) Planning and Zoning Commission states there shall be a Planning and Zoning Commission consisting of five (5) members, all of whom shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Town Council, and shall reside within the Town.
Commission members shall be appointed for terms of two years, but may continue to serve until their successors have been appointed. All appointees shall be "at-large", but the Mayor shall make reasonable attempts to appoint members from each of the four voting districts of the Town. A vacancy in the membership of the Commission shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term.
The Commission meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM at the Grant County Administration Center, Commissioners Meeting Room, Highway 180 East.
All meetings and work sessions are noticed in the newspaper and open to the public. Copies of the agenda are available at the Community Development Department on the second floor of the City Hall Annex. Meetings are broadcast on CATS television station.
