    The Town of Silver City is soliciting qualification and experience information to be used in selecting a NM licensed general contractor to provide contracting services in conjunction with the installation of upgrades or replacement to current fueling system.

    Contract for services will be negotiated, and will be for project development, design and construction of the project. It is intended that this contract be turnkey to include all services necessary to provide an upgraded/new fuel system within NMED and NMDOT regulations.

    Replacement of, or work on existing fuel tanks is to be included in this RFP. Contractor shall have appropriate NM contractor licenses and appropriate professional engineer licenses for design and installation of equipment upgrades.

    The Town of Silver City is accepting competitive sealed proposals for advertising, publicizing and promoting tourism leading to overnight lodging in the Town of Silver City. Funding is authorized through guidelines stated in Town Ordinance No. 961. It is our goal to assist those organizations who assist in promoting the Town of Silver City and its tourist attractions and events. Contracts will be granted the successful proponents for services provided from July 1, 2014 through June 15, 2015. Due to the close of the end of our fiscal year, request for reimbursement will not be considered after June 15, 2015 after 5:00 pm.

    The Town provides funding to organizations that meet the minimum requirements for the purpose of marketing the Town of Silver City as a visitor destination. The Town encourages advertising efforts that maximize local and statewide benefit as well as year-round economic benefit. Awarded entity is subject to interim evaluations and review during the agreement period.

    Notice is hereby given that on November 12, 2013 the Town Council of the Town of Silver City, New Mexico adopted Ordinance No. 1225 relating to the adoption of Municipal nfrastructure Gross Receipts Tax dedicated for Public Safety. The Regular Municipal Election of the Town of Silver City included a question to the voters to vote yes or no to continue the Municipal Infrastructure Gross Receipts Tax of one-eighth of one percent (.125%) that was adopted on July 1, 2014 and dedicated solely to expenditures for Public Safety.

    The Official Election Results that were certified on March 6, 2014 indicate the voters voted in favor of approving the .125% Municipal Infrastructure Gross Receipts Tax solely for Public Safety.

  • Brownfield Cleanup Grant

    The Town of Silver City was recently awarded a Brownfields Cleanup Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency. As part of the grant requirements, an Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) must be prepared and presented for public input. The grant will cover cleanup of lead, asbestos and bat guano in the building, as well as stabilization of the collapsing pump room floor. Alternatives vary from “no action” to total removal of hazardous materials.

    The ABCA can be viewed at the Town’s website, or at the Town Assistant Engineer’s office on the first floor of the Town Annex, 1203 N. Hudson.

    Written comments can be submitted by email or to the Assistant Engineer at the Town of Silver City, P.O. Box 1188, Silver City, NM 88062.

    A presentation on the Waterworks, the EPA grant and the ABCA will be given during the regular Town Council meeting on March 25, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Grant County Administration Center, 1400 Hwy. 180 East, Silver City, NM, with opportunity for public comment.
