Input Sought for Infrastructure and Capital Improvement Plan
The purpose of these meetings is to provide information from the previous year’s ICIP and to seek input from the citizens of the Town of Silver City on projects for inclusion in a local infrastructure capital improvement plan, a plan that establishes planning priorities for anticipated capital projects. Earth Day in Gough Park
Celebrate Earth Day on Saturday April 19th between 10 and 2. There will be vendors selling food and plants to get your Spring gardening started. There are also booths from various local organizations with helpful information on what you can do to make Silver City an even better place to live. Several musical groups will also perform in the gazebo. Also that day there will be the annual electronic waste collection and recycling drive. It will also be from 10-2 in the parking lot just South of Gough Park. Enter on 11th street by the bank drive-thru. Electronic waste is basically anything that plugs in or is battery operated. Unbroken but burned-out compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFL’s) will also be collected for safe disposal. The Earth Day celebration is sponsored by the Town of Silver City Office of Sustainability, Gila Resources Information Project, the Silver City Food Coop, Gila Conservation Education Center, Guadalupe Montessori School, the WNMU Eco-sustainability Club and Lone Mountain Natives.

Complimentary health screenings
The Health Mart Healthy Living Tour is a national awareness campaign focused on helping people better understand the role of independent pharmacists as community healthcare providers. Tests provided include complimentary blood pressure, blood glucose, body mass index, waist circumference, body composition and total cholesterol screenings as well as HbA1C tests. Hemoglobin A1C test will only be performed on those who are interested or show signs of being at-risk for diabetes

"Playful Gardens" mural project
The Town of Silver City and the Mimbres Region Arts Council invite families and children to participate in the "2014 Comcast Cares Day Mural Project" at the Silver City Recreation Center, 1016 N. Silver St., Silver City, NM 88061. The project theme is named "Playful Gardens" and will depict silhouettes of children and activities that take place on the playground of the Recreation Center. Silhouettes will be made in advance in the schools and the public will make the clay flowers on the day of the event on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
