Silver City Fire Department
Fire Prevention & Public Education

The Silver City Fire Department services the public and the community in more ways than responding to emergencies. The department takes an active approach to preventing fires and accidents before they occur through fire prevention and accident prevention. Part of our program is educating the public through fire prevention. These include talks, classes, radio announcements, school talks, safety classes, fire extinguisher classes, and fire drills. During the month of October, the department celebrates Fire Prevention Week. During an Open House at both Fire Stations we show fire safety films, give rides to children, and handout fire prevention literature. This program helps prevent many fires or accidents before they occur.

The Department also offers classes in (CPR) cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid. This is an 8-hour course where upon completion the student receives a certificate. You can contact us at 538-2591 for more information. Many employers and organizations require this certification for employment. Fire Extinguisher classes are also offered for the public's safety and awareness.

In addition we offer free blood pressure and blood glucose checks for the public's health and benefit.
