Important information on changes
to the Town of Silver City's Land Use Code

Draft Revised Land Use Code | Comment Form | More info

The Community Development Department is pleased to post the May 22, 2009, draft of the revised Land Use Code.  The land use code has not been substantially updated since it was adopted in 1999. The Mayor appointed the Land Use Code Task Force in August 2007 to discuss and deliberate on proposed code amendments. The Silver City Comprehensive Plan, adopted in March 2004, contains numerous recommendations for amendments to the land use code. Guidance from the comprehensive plan was one of the main inputs into code revisions.

This is a draft proposal that is being presented for public comment. The proposal and comments will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission and ultimately to the Town Council for approval.

Town seeks input on Climate Action Plan

Community input is sought and welcome on the Town of Silver City Climate Action Plan, created by the Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement Citizens Advisory Committee.

Acting on the initiatives put forth by local citizens and Mayor James Marshall, the Town Council of Silver City passed Resolution 2007-31 on September 25, 2007 creating the Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement Citizen’s Advisory Committee. The creation of the Committee is part of a global strategy to address climate change and was developed out of protocol targets in the Kyoto Accords. This strategy strives to address climate change at its source: in the daily operations of municipalities and their surrounding communities.

Read the Plan and Plan Appendix. Comments on either are welcome and may be addressed to the Town Clerk by email or by mail at: Town Clerk, Town of Silver City, Box 1188, Silver City, NM 88062.
